Joe Alves was born on May 21, 1936 in San Leandro, California, USA as Joseph Manuel Alves. He is an art director and production designer, known for Night Gallery (1969),The Sugarland Express (1974) and Jaws (1975). He has been married to Jerri Lauridsensince April 29, 1990. They have two children. Joe has worked on such classic films as Forbidden Planet, Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, Torn Curtain, The Sugarland Express, Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3D, Close Encounters of The Third Kind, and Escape From New York.

He pulled together diverse people with extensive talent in disparate fields to make the fearsome shark that made Jaws so successful a reality.
